We have a computerized appointment system which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your dog or cat. Our team at Polk Veterinary Care will attempt to accommodate both patient and client to the best of our ability.
Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to Polk Veterinary Care immediately. If possible, it is best to call before coming in so a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.
Usually, an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Dr. Hughes and his staff are on duty six days a week, and they are trained and well equipped to handle any emergency care your dog or cat needs.
Emergencies can be things like hit by a car, bait poisoning, or chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel your pet needs emergency treatment, do not hesitate to call us or come to Polk Veterinary Care immediately. It is best to call prior to coming in, if possible, so a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.
We are also available for urgent care for your dog or cat when the condition is non-life threatening and you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment. Dr. Hughes and the Polk Veterinary Care staff will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our staff will be able to give you an estimate of how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.

Polk Veterinary Care accepts cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, and American Express. For those who qualify, CareCredit is also an accepted method of payment.
We do provide estimates for all surgeries and hospitalizations. If you would like an estimate, you are welcome to request one at any time for your expected charges.
